Why Türkiye leads medical tourism
Türkiye is one of the world's top destinations for medical travel, and hair restoration is its flagship. The combination is hard to beat: internationally trained physicians, JCI-accredited hospitals, modern clinics, prices far below Western Europe, and a hospitality industry built around visiting patients.
The government actively supports health tourism with dedicated authorization programs for clinics serving international patients. That framework protects you — but only if you choose clinics that operate inside it.
The real risks (and they're avoidable)
Most complications traced to bargain hunting share a pattern: an agency sells the package, the surgery happens in an unlicensed facility, no named doctor is responsible, and aftercare disappears once payment clears. The surgery itself is rarely the problem — the unregulated environment is.
Typical avoidable failures include unnaturally low hairlines, poor graft survival from long out-of-body times, infections from non-sterile settings, and no recourse when results disappoint. Each of these becomes unlikely when a licensed clinic with a named physician performs the procedure.
Your pre-booking safety checklist
Verify the clinic's health-tourism authorization and physical address; ask for the supervising physician's full name and registration; require a real medical consultation before any payment; and insist on a written quote stating technique, graft estimate and what happens if you need care after flying home.
Be suspicious of same-day decisions, 'last 3 slots' pressure, prices far below the market range, and agencies unwilling to name the operating clinic. Legitimate providers are patient: your case deserves a considered plan, not a sales script.
Aftercare across borders
Before booking, agree in writing how follow-up works: who reviews your healing photos, how often, and what support exists if a concern arises in month 2 or 6. Structured photo follow-up at 3, 6 and 12 months should be part of the package.
The HairCraft app supports exactly this workflow: capture standardized photos from five angles each month, let the app quantify density and Norwood changes, and share objective reports with your clinic across any distance. Organized data turns 'it feels thinner' into a precise question your surgeon can actually answer.
